Brannock Device

An important aspect that deserves a lot of close attention is the shoe and an improper fitting shoe will result in damage to the foot that could leave you crippled for the rest of your life. Not many people realize the importance of a proper fitting shoe and often end up buying one that does not fit them properly and buying a new one. This concern with shoes was addressed by Charles F. Brannock who invented the Brannock device in the year 1925, the de facto standard used even in the modern age.

The Brannock device is made of aluminum and has provisions to measure the length and breadth of the foot, a method to make sure that you have the proper shoes for your feet. In order to get the accurate measurement of your feet, you need to stand firmly with both feet placed side by side and you need to make sure that your feet has expanded to the maximum it would. He part behind the big toe is the widest part of the foot and this has to be measured to make space for your shoes to fit your foot when you walk. The Brannock device has been a successful invention that has been used all over the world by leading shoe manufacturers till date.
